Key Responsibilities:
Interpret diagnostic tests, including EKG’s, echocardiograms and lab results
Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
Diagnose and treat a wide range of cardiac conditions
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, preferences, and medical history.
Collaborate closely with healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations accurately and timely in the electronic health record system.

Summary
The East Hawaiʻi Region of Hawaiʻi Health Systems Corporation is seeking a Cardiac Device Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join our cardiology team. This position focuses on the management, interrogation, programming, and follow-up of patients with implanted cardiac devices, including pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices.
In addition to device management responsibilities, the provider will also see general cardiology patients, supporting the cardiology team with evaluation, follow-up, and management of common cardiovascular conditions. This integrated role provides an opportunity to develop broad cardiology expertise while maintaining a strong focus on cardiac device management.
Key Responsibilities
Perform in-person and remote interrogation, analysis, and troubleshooting of implanted cardiac devices (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT-P/CRT-D)
Manage device follow-up care, including programming adjustments, battery surveillance, and post-implant evaluations
Collaborate closely with cardiologists, nurses, and device representatives to ensure high-quality, coordinated patient care
Evaluate and manage general cardiology patients in the outpatient setting, including follow-up visits, symptom assessment, and ongoing management of cardiovascular conditions in collaboration with cardiologists
Assess patients for device-related symptoms, arrhythmias, and complications, and escalate care appropriately
Provide patient education regarding device function, remote monitoring, activity considerations, and long-term follow-up
Document device findings, clinical assessments, and care plans accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing program development
Practice Environment

Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current licensure (or license-eligible) in the State of Hawaiʻi
Prior experience in cardiac device management or electrophysiology required
Strong understanding of cardiac rhythm management and device technologies
Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and patient education skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary cardiology team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices across multiple manufacturers
Familiarity with remote device monitoring systems
Background in cardiology, electrophysiology, or critical care
Device certification or formal device training
